As of October 30th, businesses in New York City will be allowed to operate on the sidewalks in front of their stores; a brand new program to boost revenue for small businesses after so much shutdown.

New locations mean new items needed. In this weather, retractable awnings and clear vinyl are a necessity for customer comfort. Signage will increase as well, which means A-frame and banner sales will soar as well. To display wares, retail shops will seek customized acrylic displays.

All that is great for this industry. To help your customers set up their outdoor shops faster, you can direct them to apply for sidewalk operations here.

Stores are under restrictions, including limiting capacity. Being Metro New York, stores are small and taking business to the street can be a big help.

The program was released now because of increased shopping during the holiday season and will be allowed through December 31st.

The mayor is excited about new opportunities for struggling businesses. As he stated, “Rebuilding a fairer, better New York City means maximizing use of our outdoor space, helping businesses keep their employees, and giving New Yorkers more reasons than ever to shop local and enjoy their communities. Open Storefronts does all three."

The Open Storefronts program will not only help shops stay in business, it will help sign makers grow income as well.
