New rules and regulations coming Dec, 15th. What you should know and how to prepare.

It is time to review the latest regulations from the city that you can find here.

The city is requiring outdoor dining to have the following updates by December 15th.

  • All 18” roadway barriers must be completely filled with soil or sand
  • Barriers must have a fully built interior wall and bottom to hold filler material
  • Continuous reflector tape must be added along the top outside edges, and snow sticks must be added to the corners of the two barriers facing traffic

Many restaurants have NOT created 18-inch walls. And those who did may not have bottoms to hold the sand. As the need for sand is safety-related. Inspectors from the city will likely be making sure restaurants are holding up to the new regulations.

This is a great opportunity to rebuild your customer's walls with Dura-Bond or PVC, both of which will outlast the common ugly painted wood, pallets, and other temporary creations.

Street dining is here to stay, and it's time our industry takes over this space with beautiful creations only you can make.
