Use HP Presets to print white on clear film
HP's presets use their new icc profiling software to create presets designed for white ink on translucent adhesive vinyl.
It may look like this was printed on a white adhesive vinyl but it is actually white ink printed on a clear vinyl. To get this effect, use 100% white density or even opt for 60. Another option is to print mirror image with white behind it.
You can use this static cling for spot ink and white ink effects, or create a daylight white, where you print the color, then the white and then the color again. The print will be rich in 2 layers of cmyk, light cyan and light magenta, with white in between the layers at 160%.
The media in this video is printed with a standard white underflood achievable with the HP 800W Latex printer.
Timothy recommends making sure the media is straight if using the auto-load feature on the printer. Otherwise, it could come back onto the pinch rollers and take off some of the static cling. It is preferable to use manual load in this case.
Although this media is not currently on HP's certified list, it will be. HP loves GF products and creates beautiful prints on large amounts of their material.
DigiJet 907 Clear Static Cling
Digi-Jet 907 Clear Static Cling is a 7.0 mil premium clear highly plasticized flexible calendered vinyl film laminated to a 90# lay flat liner. This film is designed to accept a variety of solvent-based inkjet, UV curable and latex inks common to wide format digital printing systems.
Static cling vinyl is designed for temporary application to glass. It may also function adequately on other smooth, clean surfaces such as metal and plastics. Thoroughly test this product when applying to painted surfaces. Hazing may develop on the painted surface with extended exposure to static cling vinyl.
